CEDAT Mediterranean Courses on Environmental Justice 2019

With the aim to provide outstanding education and capacity building in the field of environmental justice, The Tarragona Centre for Environmental Law Studies (CEDAT) is launching the CEDAT Mediterranean Courses on Environmental Justice, a two-week course to take place in the city town of Tarragona (Catalonia, Spain), every year.

Postgraduate and Ph.D. students, young researchers, practitioners, regulatory authorities, and public administration officials seeking for capacity building in Environmental Justice issues, will have the opportunity to share knowledge and insights with renowned international experts in the field.

Since we are convinced that local and regional environmental challenges need to be tackled from a global approach based on environmental justice, we seek to gather students and instructors from all over the world.

The Tarragona Centre for Environmental Law Studies (CEDAT) is a research centre based at Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Catalonia, Spain). It was established in 2007 at the initiative of the Faculty of Law and the Tarragona City Council. URV is in the position 401-500 in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2019. URV is also in the position 78 in the Times Higher Education Young University Ranking 2018, which lists the world’s best universities that are aged 50 years or under.

CEDAT is one of the outstanding centres of research and training in Environmental Law in Europe as well as the first of its kind in Spain, with significant connections and influence in the Spanish-speaking world. CEDAT is a member of the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law and manage the Spanish version of its website. In July 2014, CEDAT successfully organized the 12th IUCN Academy of Environmental Law Colloquium: Energy for a Fair Society on a Safe Planet, gathering more than 350 scholars from 44 countries in Tarragona.
