All Things Bakelite: The Age of Plastic is a film directed by John Maher that creates a joyous and provocative story about the “father of modern plastics” Leo Hendrik Baekeland. He made one of the most transformative discoveries of the 20th century: Bakelite. It was the first wholly synthetic polymer and it ushered in an explosion of new man-made materials that marked the beginnings of our modern industrial age.

This movie will be screened during the Open Ceremony and it will be presented by Mr. Hugh Karraker, producer of the film and great-grandson of Leo Baekeland.
