LIVE TOUR OF ROMAN TARRACO

We are very excited to announce a live tour of Roman Tarraco, scheduled for Monday evening after Kenynote Lecture 2. As many of you already know, Tarragona has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2000, a recognition given largely due to the outstanding remains of Roman private and public architecture. Tarraco (the Roman name for Tarragona) was the capital of the Roman province of Tarraconensis, a major center of culture, commerce and administration in Hispania and one of the largest and most important cities in Roman Iberia. The tour will be a combination of live video streaming showcasing three major sites in the city, the amphitheater, the circus, and the cathedral, built on top of the remnants of the Temple of Augustus, and short pre-recorded videos showing how those sites compare to 21st century Tarragona. The tour will take approximately 45-60 minutes. We really hope you'll be able to join us on this exciting activity.

CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS

We are happy to announce that ISAPh 2021 is now an ISCA-endorsed event (International Speech Communication Association) and that a selection of peer-reviewed papers from the conference will be archived in their repository, just like for the previous ISAPh meetings. Each paper of an ISCA-endorsed event will receive a DOI.

Information on paper preparation and submission will be published in the coming weeks.

PRELIMINARY PROGRAM NOW AVAILABLE!

Please check out the preliminary scientific program in the PROGRAM section to the left.

We are very excited to be back to announce the new dates for the 3rd International Symposium on Applied Phonetics, which will be held at Universitat Rovira i Virgili, in Tarragona, Spain, September 6-8, 2021

After the cancellation of the 2020 meeting due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and given the lingering uncertainly about the possibility of unrestricted travel in the coming months, ISAPh 2021 will be held fully in online mode. Details on the exact procedures will be provided shortly.

ISAPh 2021 proudly follows up on the two previous meetings held in Nagoya (2016) and Aizuwakamatsu (2018), where a large number of researchers gathered to discuss a variety of aspects within the field of applied phonetics. Our mission is to continue to offer a specialized forum for the discussion of all areas of phonetic research with an applied component. While the main focus of the symposium continues to be how phonetic knowledge can guide the teaching and learning of foreign languages, we welcome contributions from other areas of applied phonetics such as sociophonetics, speech technology and pathology, language and accent coaching, forensic phonetics, etc.

Please check this website frequently for updated information on speakers, abstract submission, etc.

We are looking forward to seeing you all in September.
